Rollingson brandish weapon against Saipung residents
Hundreds of Saipung residents on Friday took to the streets to hold a protest rally against criminal intimidation, physical assault, extortion, trespass and disturbing public tranquility in Saipung Village.
The protest rally was organised following an incident on January 17 involving Rollingson Dkhar and his associates who disturbed the peace and tranquility of Saipung Village. The residents are demanding justice and urging the police department to take appropriate action in accordance with the law.
Leaders of various village bodies in Saipung under East Jaintia Hills District have jointly filed a First Information Report (FIR) against Rollinson Dkhar of Jalaphet village. The allegation is criminal intimidation, physical assault, extortion, house trespass, disturbing public tranquillity, vandalism and brandishing of weapons against local residents of Saipung Village.
The joint FIR, signed by Waheh Shnong Saipung, Secretary Saipung, President & Secretary VDP, and President & Secretary of Biate Youth Association, as well as President & Secretary of All India Biate Students Association was lodged with the Officer in Charge of Saipung Police Station in Saipung, East Jaintia Hills District.
The FIR states that on Wednesday evening at around 4:30 pm, without the knowledge of the Village Authority, Rollingson Dkhar and and his parties came in 5 vehicles and disturbed the peace tranquility of the public Saipung Village.
Dkhar and his men physically assaulted Priceless Darnei, who was then taken to Saipung PHC for medical treatment by his family members, as he sustained injuries to his face that required stitching.
They also intruded into Lalramzoma Nampui’s house, forcibly entered their bedroom, and damaged their mobile phones.
The FIR alleges that Rollingson Dkhar brandished his pistol and threatened to shoot Priceless Darnei.
Rollingson Dikhar issued an ultimatum of five days to Lalramzoma, Priceless, Moia Ngirsim, and Ruaiia Darnei to pay him an amount of Rs. 15 Lakhs; failing which they will come to shoot them.
Dkhar forcibly entered the house of Ruaiia Darnei and beat up his wife Neii Darnei, who is 50 years old, and his two sons, Dikoma Darnei (16 years) and Tanthara Darnei (14 years). They were taken to Saipung PHC by their neighbour. Luckily, Ruaiia was safe since he was out of the station at that time.
