Rs.1.06 crore handed to SHG by SBI
A Field Level Financial Literacy Event as a part of the financial inclusion agenda of Reserve Bank of India was held at Mairang Mission Dorbar Hall, Mairang Mission Village, Mairang, Eastern West Khasi Hills District on Tuesday.
The Programme was inaugurated by P Gangte, General Manager and Officer-in-Charge (GM(O-i-C)), Reserve Bank of India, Shillong and attended by Amit Kumar, Deputy General Manager, State Bank of India, Zonal Office, Shillong, AGM, SBI and Managing Director (MD), Meghalaya Co-operative Apex Bank, Block Development Officer (BDO), Mairang Block and other officials of banks operating in the area.
GM (O-i-C), RBI, DGM, SBI, MD, MCAB and BDO, Mairang Block addressed the participants on the various aspects and benefits of banking and financial inclusion. Officials of RBI, Shillong briefed the participants on the various safety measures and the do’s and don’ts for safe digital banking, customer liability in case of fraudulent transactions, grievance redressal mechanism in the banking system, new developments in the field of digital transactions, viz., UPI, BHIM, USSD, etc.
Around 150 participants comprising farmers, members of SHGs, small entrepreneurs, etc., participated in the programme. A total of 67 sanction letters amounting to Rs. 1.06 crore from the banks operating in the area were handed over to the participants.
Officials of RBI also thanked the participants, Village Dorbar, Block Officials, Bank officials as well as the participants for facilitating and making the programme a success.
