Rs. 3.19 crore earmarked for beautification of Krangshuri
JOWAI: Chief Minister of Meghalaya Conrad K Sangma announced allocation of Rs.22 crores for upgradation and beautification of tourist places in West Jaiñtia Hills District out of Rs 200 crore, which the state government will be receiving from the central government for development of tourism sector in the State.
He also said that out of Rs 22 Crore, an amount of Rs. 10. 87 Crore has been earmarked for development of water sports facilities in Iooksi Village while Rs 7.34 crore is projected for boosting nature tourism in Chyrmang village where there are various species of deer inhabiting the village’s forest.
Sangma told a gathering before launching the official website of the Raid Buam Environmental Protection Association (RBEPA) entitled www.krangshuriadventuretours.com at Krangshuri on Thursday.
On the memorandum submitted by RBEPA for demands for funds for upgradation and beautification of Krangshuri, the Chief Minister announced that under the package of Rs. 22 crore, an amount of Rs. 3.19 crore has already earmarked for carrying out various works including construction of cafeteria, solar lighting, construction of approach road and parking lots amongst other in Krangshuri.
The Government is committed for employment generation through sustainable avenue of livestock, agriculture, food processing, agriculture and tourism, Sangma informed that the Government will established the Directorate of Food Processing for making value added products from the fruits produces in the state besides launching of Mission Lakadong for increasing the production of Lakadong turmeric and the Government has tied up with a pharmaceutical company from Hyderabad for extracting medicinal ingredients from the Lakadong Turmeric.
Others who spoke included Transport Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar, Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui, President of RBEPA Donbok Buam.
