RT-PCR tests conducted on 735 BSF jawans
The state health authority has carried out RT-PCR tests on over 735 people from the Border Security Force (BSF) in the state.
“Of these, 25 BSF jawans and 1 female have been tested positive for COVID-19 while test results of 108 are awaited,” Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War told reporters on Wednesday.
He said rapid diagnostic tests on 1006 BSF personnel was also conducted.
Dr War said 262 BSF jawans were tested negative for COVID-19 in Dobasipara border outpost while 42 test results are awaited while 70 were tested negative in Paharinagar and 9 test results awaited and 52 also came out negative in Dhankagre and result of 16 tests are awaited.
When asked, the DHS said, “The spread of the virus is confined within their camps and all positive cases are asymptomatic.”
Regarding the ongoing random testing in Ri Bhoi district, Dr War informed that a total of 669 rapid tests have been conducted so far. “We have done in Khanapara B and now we have reached 13th Mile,” he said.
It may be mentioned here that the state government has decided to go for random testing of people residing in areas from Byrnihat to Khanpara along the inter-state border with Assam after there has been a sudden surge in the number of COVID-19 cases.
