SAFF encourages its members to support govt in the war against drugs
The Shillong All Faiths Forum (SAFF) has decided to encourage its members to extent full support to the state government in the war against drugs menace.
The decision was taken at the general body meeting held at Umshyrpi college.
The meeting also approved the new office bearers of SAFF for this term: President: Bishop P Lyngdoh, Vice President: Naba Bhattacharjee, General Secretary: Noor Nongrum, Assistant General Secretary: Arup Barua, Treasurer: Jasbir Singh and Rev Kharkongor as its Media assistant.
“The SAFF also conveyed its gratitude to the Minister Social Welfare Department and his team for the recently held meeting with Faith leaders in the city. Expressing its confidence in the Social Welfare Department’s Project DREAM under Mission Director Francis G Kharshiing, members of SAFF and leaders from other faiths assured the government that they will support this effort to rid our State from the Drugs menace and other evils that plague our society today,” SAFF general secretary Noor Nongrum said.

SAFF requested all its members and units to take pro-active steps in getting the expert, technical and financial support of the Government under the Drug Rehabilitation, Elimination and Action Mission Project DREAM to facilitate and arrange different programmes in their institutions and also regularly reach out to their congregations, he said while adding that SAFF will guide and support the members in this effort and will be part of these programmes.
