SAFF formed to promote peace and harmony
The Shillong All Faiths Forum (SAFF) was formed in a meeting held between leaders of different faiths at the Archbishop’s House, Shillong on Monday.
Most Revd Dr P Lyngdoh was elected as president of SAFF, Fr John Madur as vice president, Rev EH Kharkongor as secretary and Naba Bhattacharjee as joint secretary.
“The main objectives of the SAFF are: to promote peace and harmony in society, inter-faith dialogue, goodwill visits in response to specific situations or needs, programs to march forward and progress together, the spirit of humanity and love to support each other and with one another,” a statement of SAFF said here.
With regards to the opening of places of worship, the SAFF appeals to all the devout in the State to abide by the advice of the Government and to religiously follow the necessary protocols.
The SAFF also conveys its wishes to the celebrants of the Janmasthami Festival and exhorts all to avoid public meetings and gatherings but to follow the laid down protocols for the health and welfare of all.
