Sales of medicines by non Pharmacists banned in West Garo Hills
District Magistrate, West Garo Hills Jagdish Chelani, IAS expressed grave concern over the absent of pharmacists in the Pharmacy/Druggist & Chemist shops and dispensing of the prescriptions drugs are being carried out by non-qualified persons.
In an order issued on Monday, the District Magistrate said the drug supplied on the prescription of a registered medical practitioner shall be effected only by or under the supervision of a registered pharmacist as per rule 65(2) of Drugs Rules 1945.
The order directed to all Pharmacy/Druggist & Chemist shops that the sale and dispensing of drugs should be made only by or under the supervision of a registered pharmacist.
The time period of 7(seven) days is being given to all the Pharmacy/Druggist & Chemist shops to effect the compliance of this order, said the order.
The District Magistrate warned that any Pharmacy/Druggist & Chemist shop owner failing to comply with the order, appropriate action shall be taken against such proprietors/partners as per the provisions of the law.
The Inspector of Drugs, West Garo Hills shall check, inspect and submit the report on the compliance of the order to the District Magistrate, West Garo Hills, Tura.
