Samasi identified as a place for setting up a Legal Clinic and Support Centre
The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), East Jaintia Hills District today organized an awareness programme on ‘Poverty Alleviation Scheme’ and Para Legal Volunteers (PLV) at Samasi Community Hall, Samasi Village, East Jaintia Hills District.
While addressing the gathering, the Chairperson of the programme, DS Marbaniang, Chief Judicial Magistrate cum Secretary DLSA, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat spoke on the importance of the various schemes meant for the welfare of all citizens irrespective of religion, caste, creed, sex and how Para legal Volunteers are instrumental in providing necessary assistance to the target groups. Furthermore, he stated that Samasi has been identified as a place for setting up a Legal Clinic and Support Centre.
Others who also spoke during the programme include S Pdang, Legal Aid Counsel, K Ksoo, President, Khliehriat Bar Association, R War, General Secretary Khliehriat Bar Association, Rev. J Myrmen, Para Legal Volunteer who spoke on the role of a Para Legal Volunteers (PLV) and the Gram Sevak, M Mynso, M Allya, Para Legal Volunteer (PLV) and B Paslein who offered the vote of thanks.
The awareness programme was also attended by the village headmen and secretaries of 17 villages which include Kremmyrsiang, Shyrwang, Mynthning, Mookhain, Mulait Bri Sumer, Jalaphet Bri Sumer, Mynthlu, Samasi, Kyrluh, Lakasein, Mooriap, Umkyrpong, Kseh, Pala, Lyrket, Khahnar, Mooknor.
