Sanbor Shullai urges Union Minister to release fund for Animal Husbandry & Veterinary dept
BJP leader and cabinet minister Sanbor Shullai recently met Union Minister of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Purshottam Rupala at Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi.
Shullai on behalf of Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, Government of Meghalaya, expressed his sincere gratitude to the ministry for having rendered great support to the schemes of Rashtriya Gokul Mission and National Livestock Mission.
Shullai draw attention towards the Centrally Sponsored Scheme of Livestock Health and Disease Control (LHDC). With regards to this scheme Shullai said that during the last two years, the Government of Meghalaya has received funds against various components of the Scheme.
During the current FY 2021-22, the State has proposals in the tune of Rs.2669.54 lakh for which he requests the ministry to help the state secure the funds.
Shullai has requested the union minister in view that this time around the proposed amount is lesser than half sanctioned in the previous fiscal year.
The Animal Husbandry and Veterinary department incidentally, the proposed amount for FY 21-22 is mainly focused towards the components of Establishment and Strengthening of existing Veterinary Hospitals and Dispensaries (ESVHD), Assistance to States for Control of Animal Diseases (ASCAD) and Classical Swine Fever – Control Programme (CSF-CP); three very important components for the State in terms of improving animal health and livestock population of the State with a greater focus in the far flung and remote areas of the State.
He said that this would greatly benefit the farmers of our State, along with supplementary aid that would be rendered through the CSF-CP to the Meghalaya Piggery Mission.
In addition, Shullai also pointed out that all utilisation certificates for funds received during 2019-20 and 2020-21 have been submitted to Government of India. He has also requested the union minister to kindly look into the proposal and expedite the whole process for Meghalaya.
