Sanker the only mental health hospital in Meghalaya opens OPD in Jowai
Sanker the only Mental Health Facility in Meghalaya opens its OPD in Chutwakhu, Jowai on Saturday to make healthcare services more accessible to people in Jaintia Hills.
Dr. Sandy Syiem, the founder of Sanker informed “Sanker now run by the trusts have extended its service across the state and in Khasi and Jaintia to help patients on mental health.”
“We run this institute not to make money but to give hope and love to patients who are suffering from various illnesses especially mental health which required medicine every day,” Dr Sandy said.
Senior Pastor of Church of God, Iongpiah, Rev ER Tongper who is the chief guest appreciated Dr Sandy for his noble thought to open Sanker OPD in Jowai to bring health care facilities near to the people.
He encouraged the patients and family members who are suffering from mental health to take the opportunity to visit the OPD centre in Jowai.
He also stressed that “We should not discriminate the people who are suffering from mental health, but instead we must give them hope, encouragement, acceptance and love so that they are not ashamed to visit the centre for counselling.”
Others present on the occasion were Rev Mynried Kyndiah who chaired the meeting, Waheh Chnong Chutwakhu Philander Well Lyngdoh, Dr P Khonglah Junior Specialist Sanker Hospital and among others
The Chutwakhu Social Welfare Local Durbar, Jowai and Sanker Hospital also formally inked the agreement during the inauguration of Sanker OPD.
