Santa M Shylla pushes for Health Sub-Centre and CHC upgrade to benefit border communities
Sutnga Saipung legislator Santa Mary Shylla on Monday proposed upgrading Umkiang PHC to a CHC and setting up a new PHC in her constituency.
In her letter to the Chief Minister and Health Minister, Ampareen Lyngdoh, Santa M Shylla highlights the need to upgrade health infrastructures in her constituency for better public health.
The proposed initiatives include upgrading Umkiang PHC to a CHC and setting up of new PHC within Sumer Sirdarship and at Hingaria village.
Shylla emphasizes the significance of these healthcare facilities, as they are located in rural and economically backward areas and also along the Indo-Bangla Border. The upgraded infrastructure will cater to the medical needs of the local population, reducing the need to travel to distant towns and cities.
The legislator urges the Government of Meghalaya to examine these proposals for the larger public good and welfare of the people. Healthcare improvements have the potential to make a substantial impact on the lives of individuals in these underserved communities.
