School exams restricted in Guwahati during Ambubachi Mela
In an official order, the district mission coordinator and inspector of schools of Kamrup Metro district asked all government, provincialised and private schools not to schedule any exams during the forthcoming Ambubachi Mela to avoid any inconvenience to the students that may arise due to flow of tourist to the city from across the country.
The four-day-long Ambubachi festival will begin at Kamakhya Temple in the city on June 22 and end on June 26.
Elaborate arrangements have been made by the state tourism depart for the smooth conduct of the mela this year.
“Schools are requested not to schedule any exam during June 22 to 26 on account of Ambubachi. Further, if any school have already scheduled any examination on the above-mentioned date are hereby asked to re-schedule the examination,” the DMC cum inspector of schools said in a directive to school principals.
This year’s Ambubachi Mela’s Pravritti will be performed at 8.45 am on June 22 following which the main door of the temple will be closed for three days and three nights.
The Nibritti will be performed on June 26 following which the main door of the temple will be opened for visitors.
“Last year, around 25 lakh devotees visited the Kamaakhya Temple during Ambubachci mela. This year, the number of devotees is likely to be increased,” said Kavindra Prasad Sarma, Doloi (head priest) Kamakhya Temple.
