Schools and colleges to remain closed in EGH
In view of the prevailing situation concerning Covid-19 in the state, East Garo Hillls District Magistrate, Swapnil Tembe had issued an order under Section 144 of the CrPC directing the schools, colleges, coaching institutions and other educational institutions in the district to remain closed with effect from 1 to 10 May. The order however, allowed the on-going MBOSE examinations to continue by strictly following the Covid-19 protocols.
According to the order, all shops and commercial establishments will close everyday at 7:00 p.m across the district, operation of weekly markets will be restricted to only agricultural items, vegetables and fruits and the places of religious worships will remain closed except for wedding ceremony with prior permission from the District Magistrate.
The political, public, social and religious gathering including conference, meetings and trainings, entry of tourists from outside the state also are not permitted, the order further said.
The order also said that the night curfew from 10 p.m to 5 a.m will not be applicable to the movement of security forces, medical teams and other emergency services including goods transport and inter-state transport.
The wearing of face masks is mandatory and smoking and spitting in public places is strictly prohibited and the violators will be imposed with penalty by the designated officers, the order said.
