Section 144 CrPC promulgated in East Khasi Hills to contain fire incidents

The District Magistrate East Khasi Hills District has promulgated Section 144 CrPC prohibiting burning of grasses, woods etc, in forest and grassland areas, park gardens, places of plantation, barren lands and burning of forest within the district.

The prohibitory order was issued following occurrence of several fire incidents in various places under East Khasi Hills District.

Major fire incident averted in Golflink due to timely action by CRPF

The District Magistrate asserted that the prohibitory order is warranted to safeguard the lives and property and to prevent any untoward incident.
