Section 144 impose in WJHs
In view of the prevailing situation concerning COVID-19 in the country and globally and with a view to containing and preventing the spread of the Virus in the District, the District Magistrate of West Jaintia Hills has imposed Section 144 CrPC in the entire District with effect from 10.00 Pm of 23rd March, 2020 and shall remain in force till 5.00 Am of 26th March, 2020 to imbibe by the advisory issued by the Government of Meghalaya.
The District Magistrate has ordered closure of all markets and commercial establishments in the District. Operation of all forms of public transport. The DM has also imposed restriction on assembly or gathering of five or more persons in public areas, premises, commercial and residential localities beyond the individual households.
The order is however not applicable to security forces and medical teams on duty, petrol pumps, pharmacies and all essential services including Health Services, MeECL, Public health Engineering (PHE) Department, Public Works Department (PWD) Children Home, ICDS, Police and Armed Forces, Fire Emergency Services, Banks and ATMs. Movement of Vehicles carrying essential commodities, security forces, medical equipment & goods are also exempted. However, drivers and attendants of the vehicles shall be subject to medical screening as per laid down protocols. Print and electronic media are also exempted. ADIPR
