Section 144 imposed in West Jaintia Hills

In view of the prevailing situation concerning COVID-19 in the country and globally, the District Magistrate of West Jaintia Hills has imposed Section 144 CrPC in the entire District with effect from the 20th March, 2020 midnight to 21st March, 2020 midnight inorder to put into enforce the advisory issued by the Government of Meghalaya.

The District Magistrate has ordered closure of all markets and commercial establishments in the District. Operation of all forms of public transport. The DM has also imposed restriction on assembly or gathering of five or more persons in public areas and premises beyond the individual households.

The order is however not applicable to security forces and medical teams on duty.
