Section 163 BNSS promulgated prohibiting plying of overloaded hay laden trucks in Shillong

The District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills District has promulgated Section 163 BNSS in the District to prohibit the plying of Overloaded hay-laden trucks/pickup trucks plying across the city of Shillong.

The order was promulgated in view of the fact that the plying of overloaded hay-laden trucks/pickup trucks across Shillong city are posing a significant safety hazard and may contact with electric wires which may result in a major fire incident.

Moreover, the hays falling from these trucks is littering the roads in the localities, creating nuisance and undermining the efforts of the annual cleaning drive of the localities.

Any violation to this Order shall be prosecuted under Section 223 of the BNS, the order warned.
