Seinraij chief charged JHADC for dishonouring sentiment of Niamtre
The Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) has come under sharp criticism from President of Seinraij Jowai OR Shallam for the conduct of summer session on the maiden day of Behdieñkhlam.
Shallam told a gathering of Niamtre faithful in Chemlang Kmai Raij programme at Iongpiah, Jowai on Wednesday.
The fire brand religious leader said that the JHADC did not honour the religious sentiment of Niamtre as the faithful working in JHADC were compelled to attend office on Monday on account of the Summer Session.
Shallam went on to thrash the JHADC for discontinuing the holiday granted on the second day of Behdieñkhlam or Sngi Mulong in 2022, which was granted for past 20 years under various Chief Executive Members like Late Obil Kyndiat, Late Sing Mulieh and others.
Hammering the JHADC, the Seinraij Jowai President said that the Council has failed its obligation and moral responsibility as the custodian of the traditional cultural practices for the Council disrespected the sentiment of the Niamtre not once but twice this year.
Firing salvo at some MDCs whom he did not named, Shallam said that some MDCs are anti Behdieñkhlam as their words do not match their actions.
