Seminar for striving innovative practices in the teaching skills in the 21st century
As part of its silver jubilee celebration, the Thomas Jones Synod College, Jowai organized a District Seminar on the topic “The teacher’s skills and pedagogy in the 21st Century the challenges for teachers in the digital era” at the College Hall on Friday.
The seminar was inaugurated by Octomewot Lamin Nominated MDC JHADC while R Pariat College Assistant Lecturer chaired the inaugural functions. Others who spoke included College Principal Dr DG Lyngdoh and College assistant lecturer S Dkhar.
Delivering her keynote address, College Assistant Lecturer Dr. I Dkhar said the objectives of today seminar is to inculcate and bring innovative practices in the teaching skills in the 21st century.
She also said the challenges for the teachers in the digital era to enhancing teaching learning in the classroom situation.
Dkhar said a teacher can not just start at the front of the class relating the knowledge expecting by people to listen and understanding leave the lesson fill with knowledge. She also said but people needs to construct their own understanding with teachers using various teaching methods to engage people to assess the very best in order to shape their own intellectual journey.
Dkhar informed there is a different types of pedagogical approach i,e constructive approach, reflective approach, collaborative approach, interrogative approach and enquiry base approach.
The resource persons are Dr. BH Buam Associate professor on “Teaching Skills and Pedagogy in the 21st century ‘ while Dr Q Kharbuli Associate Professor UGC Human Resource Development Centre NEHU talked on ‘Teaching and learning during COVID-19 effectiveness challenges”.
Dr. Batskhem Myrboh Asst professor department of political science Synod College Shillong touched on “Introduction to Academic Writing.
