Sengkur Shadap celebrates its silver jubilee in West Karbi Anglong

Sengkur Shadap, a historic clan with roots tracing back to 1616 at Mukoi (Savir) in Mynser, West Karbi Anglong, Shadap clan committee of Mynser celebrated its 25th silver jubilee with great fervour and unity.
The two-day celebration, held on April 11 and 12, was organized by the Sengkur Shadap Jubilee Committee under the theme “Ka Jingiaid Lynti Kaba 25th Snem” (The 25-Year Journey).
The programme was presided over by President Onish Shadap, with the introductory address delivered by Secretary Ulis Shadap. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from clan members across the region, bringing together generations to commemorate the clan’s journey and heritage.
Distinguished guests included Gabriel Shadap, System Engineer from KHADC Shillong, who graced the occasion as the chief guest. Other notable attendees were Khrawbok Shadap, Secretary of the Shillong unit; Shanbok Shadap, President of the Ri-Bhoi District Sengkur Shadap; Habel Muktieh, President of Seng Raid Khyrwang; Pynshngainlang Rattane, President of the United Khasi People’s Organisation (UKPO), Karbi Anglong Central Committee; Lyngdoh of Khasi Khyrwang Bius Lyngdoh; and other respected elders and leaders of the Sengkur Shadap.
During the celebration, Khrawbok Shadap emphasized the significance of health and wealth, while Mr. Shanbok Shadap highlighted the importance of education in shaping the future of the clan. Speakers from the Raid Nongtung Sengkur Shadap addressed the importance of unity and urged the community to organise cultural events such as Nongtung Khyrwang Labang Nongpyllut to preserve their traditions.
In his address, Gabriel Shadap inspired the gathering with a powerful speech on the importance of knowledge and unity within the clan. As a gesture of goodwill, he distributed essential items to the needy, showcasing the spirit of sharing and community support.
The silver jubilee celebration stood as a testament to the enduring legacy, unity, and cultural pride of the Sengkur Shadap clan, marking a memorable milestone in their collective journey.
