Shah assures Meghalaya CM to meet Govt delegation after Delhi elections
SHILLONG: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has assured to meet the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government delegation to discuss on the demand to implement the Inner Line Permit (ILP) in the state after the Delhi elections.
This was informed by the chief minister Conrad K Sangma after meeting the union home minister at New Delhi on Thursday.
He said the union home minister was informed about the resolution passed by the State Legislative Assembly for urging the Centre to implement the ILP in Meghalaya, on December 19, last year.
“I informed him (Shah) that a delegation from Meghalaya would like to meet him and I expressed the requirement and desire to implement ILP. He was very positive and assured that he will meet the delegation and he will be sending an official intimation to us right after the Delhi elections are over,” Sangma said in a video statement issued after the meeting.
Sangma informed that during the meeting issues pending in the district councils were also discussed. “I updated him on the status of things in our Khasi, Jaintia and Garo Hills’ District Councils and briefed about the issues concerning each district council,” he said.
Issues regarding the overall law and order situation in the state and the North East and the different economic development issues were also raised.
“We spoke about the various projects that we are taking up in a large scale including the projects for the National Games. I mentioned about the Social Justice Ministry’s project that is pending with the Cabinet and he assured that he will take up the matter with Hon’ble Prime Minister also,” Sangma said.
