Shah leads huge roadshow in Tinsukia in support of Sonowal
Union home minister Amit Shah led a huge roadshow in support of BJP candidate from Dibrugarh constituency Sarbananda Sonowal in Tinsukia town on Tuesday evening.
However, Union minister and the BJP candidate Sonowal was not present in the roadshow.
Shah was accompanied by Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma during the roadshow which started at Chaliha Nagar and ended at Thana Chariali. The roadshow started at 6.30 pm.
The Union home minister did not deliver any speech during the roadshow, which was accompanied by more than 10 thousand people.
Sources said Sonowal was busy in campaign meetings in TYingkhong and Duliajan.
Party sources however said there is a logic behind Sonowal’s absence in the roadshow. “If star campaigners campaign for any candidate in his constituency, other expenses including the accommodation, and food arrangements, would be added to the account of the candidate. If star campaigners campaign for a particular candidate contesting the ensuing Lok Sabha polls, other expenses of the campaigners such as food and accommodations will be added to candidates’ expenditure account,” sources indicated.
They said the expenditure was the factor behind Sonowal’s absence from the rally.
On April 8, chief minister Sarma led a huge road show from the Chowkidingee playground to Radhanath Changkakaty Road in support of Sonowal. The 7-km roadshow witnessed the active participation of thousands of enthusiastic BJP workers and supporters. But Sonowal was not in the roadshow.
