Shangpliang denies misusing of Rs 1.25 Cr SRWP scheme
NPP spokesperson and former Mawsynram legislator Himalaya M Shangpliang on Monday categorically denied the allegation against him of misusing Rs 1.25 crore under the Special Rural Works Program (SRWP) scheme.
Speaking to media persons, Shangpliang said that the people, who are making this false allegation against him, are office bearers of the UDP Mawsynram circle.
Shangpliang said that in November 2022 after his resignation as MLA, an order came from the BDO Office barring former MLA to take out the Second Instalment of the MLA Scheme 2022-2023.
He said that the amount meant for MLA under the SWRP scheme is Rs 2.50 crores but till date he has only utilized Rs 1.25 crore since he resigned as an MLA.
“As I have resigned as MLA I have not received the second instalment of MLA scheme amounting to Rs 1.25 crore,” Shangpliang said.
Shangpliang said that it is the right of the people of Mawsynram to receive the second instalment of the MLA scheme of the year 2022-2023.
“There is an order from the CRD department on 3 August 2023 stating that the amount Rs 1.25 crore was sanctioned but after the MLA elections another order came out on 14 August which barred the former MLA to utilise the amount and till date the amount is pending at the BDO office” he added.
He added on 6 September 2024 an order was issued which canceled the order of 14 August 2024 and this allowed the former MLA to utilize the Second Instalment of the MLA Scheme 2022-2023 to assist the people who are entitled to receive through the SRWP Scheme.
“I promise to all the beneficiaries of Mawsynram constituency that next month everyone will get the benefits from the Second Instalment of the MLA Scheme 2022-2023” he said.
