Shillong lady advocate nominated as National Commission for Women member
The Central Govt has nominated Shillong based advocate and social activist Delina Khongdup as Member of the National Commission for Women.
The notification read in pursuance of Section 3 of the National Commission for Women Act, 1990 (20 of 1990), the Central Government nominated Khongdup, Mamta Kumari and Khusboo Sundar as Members in the National Commission for Women (NCW).
They will hold office for a period of three years from the date of assumption of charge, or till the age of 65 years, or until further orders, whichever is the earliest:
Khongdup in 2020 filed the PIL in Meghalaya High Court for inclusion of Niam Khasi, Niam Tynrai, Songsarek, etc as minority religions in Meghalaya.
Khongdup is the wife of Mani Mawpat and resident of Lyndem village, East Khasi Hills District.
