Shillong Lajong beat Gokulam Kerala 3-1 to secure first I-League win of the season
Shillong Lajong got their first win in the I-League by beating Gokulam Kerala 3-1 at SSA Stadium, Shillong on Sunday.
The game was intense from the start, with Lajong playing in front of a loud crowd. They scored first in the 30th minute, thanks to Daniel Gonçalves and a great assist from captain Hardy Cliff Nongbri.
Gokulam fought back and found the equaliser just before halftime in the 43rd minute scored by Nili Perdomo. It was all square between the two sides in the halftime.
In the second half, Lajong made some changes and kept the pressure on. They took the lead again with a penalty scored by Renan Paulino De Souza after Phrangki Buam was fouled in the box.
Despite Gokulam’s efforts, Lajong secured the win with another goal in stoppage time in 90+8 minute by captain Hardy Cliff Nongbri. With this result, Shillong Lajong now has three draws and a win, earning 6 points from four matches. They are currently in 6th place on the points table.
