Shillong Lajong FC opens I-League with 1-1 draw against Mohammedan SC

Shillong Lajong FC return to the I-League ends out in a 1-1 hard fought draw against the hosts Mohammedan SC in their first match of the I-League 2023/24 season in Naihati today.

It was a pretty interesting encounter between the two sides with both the teams fighting for all three points and it was Shillong Lajong who took the lead just before the half-time whistle with a wonderful volley in the 45+2 added minutes by the Japanese forward Takuto Miki but David Lalhlansanga who came on as a substitute in the second half equalised for Mohammedan SC in the 53rd minute.

It was very unfortunate for Shillong Lajong FC goalkeeper Bishal Lama as he suffered which it looks like a pretty serious injury when he collided with Mohammedan SC player Remsanga in the 57th minute.

With this result Shillong Lajong earned a hard fought one point against a strong Mohammedan SC side and they will be looking forward to their next game against Neroca FC from Manipur in the “North-East Derby” on Thursday the 9th of November at 2pm at the SSA Stadium, Shillong.
