Shillong Literary Festival 2024 set to begin on November 18, featuring iconic authors
Shillong is all set to organize the 4th edition of the Shillong Literary Festival from November 18 to 20, 2024, at the iconic Ward’s Lake. The three-day literary extravaganza will commence with an inaugural ceremony in the presence of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad K. Sangma, as the Chief Guest.
The festival lineup includes literary stalwarts such as Vikram Seth, the celebrated author of A Suitable Boy; Shobhaa De, popularly known as the ‘Jackie Collins of India’; Jerry Pinto, acclaimed for his novel Em and the Big Hoom; and Anita Agnihotri, an author who gives voice to social issues in works like The Sickle. Adding further distinction is Yeshe Dorjee Thongchi, a Padma Shri awardee and former President of the Asom Sahitya Sabha.
The festival will also feature artists from the Meghalaya Grassroots Music Project (MGMP), captivating festivalgoers with melodies and strings.
Previous editions of the festival have hosted renowned personalities such as Naseeruddin Shah, Shekhar Gupta, Amitav Ghosh, and Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni. This year, the festival promises to add to this illustrious lineup of literary and cultural icons.
