Shillong MP demands removal of NEHU VC

Shillong MP Dr Ricky AJ Syngkon on Tuesday demanded the immediate removal of the incumbent Vice Chancellor of the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) Prof PS Shukla.

Raising the issue during the parliament session, Syngkon said, “I would like the concerned ministry to take up the matter seriously by removing this VC.”

“This university with the motto to rise up and build today when you look at the condition of this university, it is in total disarray and the reason for this is because of the leadership crisis that the university is facing.The incompetency of the present VC has led to protests by students, teachers and non-teaching staff of this university and has brought his university into a standstill,” he alleged.

According to him, the university has been affected to a great extent due to the ongoing crisis.
