Shillong Premier League: Mawlai SC crush Nangkiew Irat 6-0, Sawmer SC end winless run with 4-1 victory
Mawlai SC delivered a dominant performance, securing a 6-0 victory over Nangkiew Irat SC in the OC Blue Shillong Premier League 2024 at the SSA Stadium, First Ground, Polo, on Tuesday.
Earlier in the day, Sawmer SC clinched a 4-1 win against Nongrim Hills in another high-scoring fixture.
Kevin Rymbai (47’, 58’, 90’+3P) bagged a hat-trick for Mawlai, who bounced back strongly after a draw against Langsning FC in their previous outing. Overkindness L Mawnai (42′), Banraplang Pyngrope (51’), and Donlad Diengdoh (90’+1) also found the net. With this win, Mawlai reclaimed the top spot in the standings, surpassing Shillong Lajong FC with 32 points to 29.
Sawmer’s victory saw them climb to seventh place, overtaking Nongrim Hills. Goals from Bickyson Kharkongor (25’), Aibanraplang Dohling (31’), Shanmeiaki Warlarpih (42’), and Diego Khyriem (59’) ensured a comfortable win, while Alem Khongwir (87’) converted a late penalty for Nongrim Hills. Sawmer now stand at 15 points, just behind sixth-placed Nangkiew Irat (16 points), while Nongrim Hills remain at 14.
Mawlai struck late in the first half after two near misses, with Overkindness scoring from a free-kick just outside the box. Goalkeeper Rihoklang Khongjoh got a hand to it but couldn’t keep it out.
Nangkiew Irat’s hopes of a second-half comeback were quickly dashed. A defensive error gifted Kevin Rymbai an opportunity, and he capitalized with a left-footed strike. Four minutes later, Banskhem Mawlong’s pinpoint cross allowed Banraplang Pyngrope to double the lead.

Despite a spell of possession, Nangkiew Irat failed to threaten. Mawlai capitalized again as Lambhamiki Lamare and Damanbhalang Chyne combined to set up Kevin for his second goal. Kevin later assisted Donlad Diengdoh for a header before sealing the match with a penalty, marking Nangkiew Irat’s heaviest defeat this season.
Nangkiew Irat are now winless in six matches, while Mawlai remain unbeaten and are the first club to secure 10 victories this season.

Sawmer, meanwhile, ended a seven-match winless streak in style. Three first-half goals set the tone—Bickyson nodded in the opener, Aibanraplang struck with a one-touch finish, and Shanmeiaki curled in a beauty from the edge of the box. Diego Khyriem later rounded the keeper for Sawmer’s fourth.
Nongrim Hills’ late penalty was only a consolation as they extended their winless run to five games and dropped to just one spot above the relegation zone.
The next OC Blue SPL 2024 fixtures are scheduled for Saturday. Rangdajied United FC will face Langsning at 11 AM, followed by Nongthymmai SC against Sawmer at 2:30 PM.
