Shillong Press Club Election 2024: Key Dates and Details Announced

The Directorate of Information and Public Relations, Government of Meghalaya, has officially announced the schedule for the upcoming Shillong Press Club Election 2024. The elections will be held for the positions of President, General Secretary, and Treasurer.

The key dates for the election process are as follows:

Issue of Notification: June 26, 2024

Filing of Nominations: June 27, 2024, June 28, 2024, and July 1, 2024 (11:00 AM – 3:00 PM)

Last Date for Withdrawal of Candidature: July 2, 2024 (up to 1:00 PM)

Scrutiny of Nominations: July 2, 2024 (from 2:00 PM onwards)

Date of Poll: July 5, 2024 (10:00 AM – 4:00 PM) at Shillong Press Club

Counting of Votes: July 5, 2024 (from 5:00 PM)

Only journalists accredited with the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) will be allowed to contest the elections. Intending candidates are required to enclose photocopies of their valid Accreditation Card and EPIC along with the Nomination Form. Voters are required to produce either their Accreditation Card issued by DIPR or an Identity Card issued by their employing organization to be eligible to vote.

Additionally, the final publication of the Electoral Roll for the Shillong Press Club Election 2024 has been prepared with reference to December 22, 2023, as the qualifying date. The Electoral Roll is available for inspection at the office of the Deputy Director, DIPR cum Presiding Officer during office hours and at the Shillong Press Club.
