Shillong Sikhs set up oxygen beds to aid COVID-19 patients
The Sikh community of Shillong have decided to set up oxygen beds at the auditorium of the Shri Guru Singh Sabha Gurudwara for COVID-19 patients.
Speaking to Syllad.com, general secretary of the Shri Guru Singh Sabha Dr Kamaljit Singh Sehdava said the objective of setting up the facility is to extend all possible help to COVID-19 patients requiring oxygen therapy.
“The facility will be made available to anybody irrespective of caste, greed and religion free of cost. There will be doctors and paramedics who are ready to extend help to COVID-19 patients in need of oxygen,” he said.
This also come at a time when the second wave of coronavirus has pushed more and more COVID-19 patients in the country gasping for breath following respiratory tract infection.
After witnessing rapid surge in the number of cases, the state government has immediately declared Shillong and three other places as containment areas to break the transmission chain of the highly contagious disease.
Dr Kamaljit also informed that his team is also proposing to bring two more oxygen generator from Gujarat next week. “We want to help the government in its fight against the pandemic,” he said.
