Shooting Stars: East Khasi Hills shines bright at Meghalaya Games with 43 Medals
East Khasi Hills dominated the overall medal tally at the Meghalaya Games with 15 golds, 16 silvers, and 12 bronzes, making a total of 43 medals. West Jaintia Hills and West Garo Hills followed with 6 and 7 total medals, respectively. The event was a resounding success, highlighting the exceptional talent and determination of the athletes.
In an awe-inspiring display of skill and precision, athletes from East Khasi Hills (EKH) swept numerous categories in the recent shooting competitions, securing a significant number of medals. The event included various categories in the 10M Air Rifle and Pistol, as well as the 50M Rifle and Pistol disciplines.
In the 10M Air Rifle competitions, Mayank Vats from EKH demonstrated exceptional precision, securing the gold medal in the men’s individual category. Rupam Das, also from EKH, delivered a consistent performance, earning the silver medal, while Hamebansuklang Mylliempdah from EKH showcased his talent to clinch the bronze medal. In the women’s individual category, Litina Aye from EKH exhibited outstanding marksmanship to win the gold medal. Syesha Oykim Hek, another EKH athlete, earned the silver medal with her precise shooting, and Tengsilchi R Marak from West Garo Hills secured the bronze medal.
In the 10M Air Pistol competitions, Tingku R Marak from West Garo Hills earned the gold medal in the men’s individual category with his impeccable aim. Anthony Lakiang from EKH secured the silver medal with his strong performance, and Davis CK Sangma from North Garo Hills clinched the bronze medal. In the women’s individual category, Da I Labynta Ryntathiang from EKH displayed exceptional shooting to win the gold medal. Neha Negi Khanduri, also from EKH, demonstrated great precision to earn the silver medal, and Breanna Sootinck from EKH secured the bronze medal with her consistent performance.
The 25M Pistol competitions included the Sports Pistol and Standard Pistol categories. In the 25M Sports Pistol Women Individual event, Shirley M Kharbuli from EKH clinched the gold medal. Balarishisha Rani from EKH earned the silver medal, while Toiaibha Mylliempdah from EKH secured the bronze medal. In the 25M Standard Pistol Men Individual event, Mawdaker Marwein from EKH won the gold medal. Maxwell Pyngrope from EKH earned the silver medal, and Pynkhraw Kharshiing from EKH secured the bronze medal.
The 50M Pistol competitions saw Mawdaker Marwein from EKH clinching the gold medal in the men’s individual category with exceptional accuracy. Pynkhraw Kharshiing from EKH earned the silver medal with a commendable performance, while Maxwell Pyngrope from EKH secured the bronze medal through consistent shooting. In the women’s individual category, Balarishisha Rani from EKH displayed remarkable skill to win the gold medal. Shirley M Kharbuli, another EKH athlete, secured the silver medal with an excellent performance, and Toiaibha Mylliempdah from EKH earned the bronze medal with impressive accuracy.
In the 50M Rifle competitions, Wanmi Sumer from West Jaintia Hills won the gold medal in the open sight men’s individual category with outstanding marksmanship. Pynshaibor Kharbani from West Khasi Hills secured the silver medal, while Rimi O Blah from West Jaintia Hills earned the bronze medal. In the open sight women’s individual category, Tengsilchi Marak from West Garo Hills showcased her talent to win the gold medal. Marbarisha Mylliempdah from EKH earned the silver medal, and Emarian T M Marak from West Garo Hills secured the bronze medal.
In the prone men’s individual category, Rijun Kharbani from EKH earned the gold medal with excellent shooting. Khraw Jyrwa from EKH secured the silver medal with a strong performance, and Jeremy Nongrum from EKH earned the bronze medal with consistent accuracy. In the prone women’s individual category, Balarishisha Rani from EKH won the gold medal with remarkable skill. Amalisha N Sangma from EKH secured the silver medal, and Marbarisha Mylliempdah from EKH earned the bronze medal with consistent shooting.
In the 3P men’s individual category, Wanpliborlang Nongsiej from EKH clinched the gold medal with an outstanding performance. Dennyson Kyrsian from Ri Bhoi secured the silver medal, and Khrawboklang Jyrwa from EKH earned the bronze medal with consistent accuracy. In the 3P women’s individual category, Litina Aye from EKH earned the gold medal with an exceptional performance. Marbarisha Mylliempdah from EKH secured the silver medal with precise shooting, and Suparna Sinha from EKH earned the bronze medal with an impressive performance.
In the 10M Air Rifle Women Individual (Deaf) category, Daaihunsisha Iawphniaw from EKH secured the gold medal, followed by Anjudica Thyrniang from EKH with the silver medal.
In the 10M Air Rifle Men Individual (Deaf) category, Nengba Marak from EKH won the gold medal, with Wanjingkmen Tymsen from EKH taking the silver medal.
In the 10M Air Pistol Women Individual (Deaf) category, Manika Pasi from West Jaintia Hills (WJH) earned the gold medal, and Fibisofronia Kharmusulman from WJH received the silver medal.
In the 10M Air Pistol Men Individual (Deaf) category, Yomiki L Nonglait from EKH secured the gold medal.
In the 10M Air Pistol Mixed Team event, Tingku R Marak and Manika Pasi from WGH/WJH secured the gold medal. Anthony Lakiang and Neha Negi Khanduri from EKH/EKH won the silver medal, while Jeriech R Marak and Breanna Sootinck from WGH/EKH earned the bronze medal.
In the 10M Air Rifle Mixed Team event, Mayank Vats and Litina Aye from EKH/EKH won the gold medal. Hamebansuklang Mylliempdah and Syesha Oykim Hek from EKH/EKH secured the silver medal, while Wanmi Sumer and Tengsilchi R Marak from WJH/WGH earned the bronze medal.
The medal ceremony was a grand affair attended by the Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Sniawbhalang Dhar, in the presence of the Director General of Police, Meghalaya, Idashisha Nongrang, and the Meghalaya State Olympic Association working president, JF Kharshiiing, among other dignitaries.
