Shopping during Curfew in WJH
In order to enable the local residents to purchase their basic Essential Commodities during the ongoing Curfew promulgated in the District, the District Magistrate, West Jaintia Hills has allowed identified wholesale Shops and Retail Shops to open.
- Retail Shops within the localities identified by the respective Headmen are allowed to open on Tuesday (01.06.2021) and Friday (04.06.2021 from 9.00 Am to 2.00 Pm.
- Wholesale Shops identified by the Headmen are allowed to open on Wednesday (02.06.2021) from 8.00 AM to 4.00 PM.
The following are not permitted to open:
- All marketplaces are to remain closed.
- Selling of any kind of items on footpaths, roads etc are not allowed.
- Inter-village and Inter-Locality movement of persons is also not permitted.
It also states that the Headmen in coordination with the Incident Commander and Police shall regulate the operation of Shops in their respective Localities and to ensure due compliance to the Advisories of Health & Welfare department with regard to mandatory and proper wearing of Face Masks and strict adherence to Social Distancing.
The District Magistrate has also encouraged the Headmen to facilitate Home Delivery by the Retail Shops from within the Village/ Localities and also Delivery by Wholesale Shops to the Retail Shops.
In addition, the District Magistrate has directed the public to strictly adhere to mandatory and proper wearing of face mask, maintaining a Social Distance of at least 2 metres, practice cough etiquette and regular washing of hands with water and soap, not to spit in public places and to comply with arrangement made by the District Administration, District Police and Headmen.
Any violation is punishable under Section 51(b) of the Disaster Management Act, 2005. ADIPR
