Shops closed for flouting COVID-19 norms in Laitumkhrah
The Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District, Isawanda Laloo on Monday has issued an order to closed shops and markets for not following COVID-19 norms in Laitumkhrah, Shillong.
The order read “All shops in Laitumkhrah including market area and street vendors along the whole stretch of Laitumkhrah main road shall remain closed with immediate effect and until further orders.”
The order was issued after reports was received from the Incident Commander, Zone-I that the public at Laitumkhrah are not following the protocols, despite regulation on opening of shops, and strict instructions that people should move out only for essential purposes.
It was noticed that many are not complying to the protocols of the Health Department. Many shops were seen to be crowded, and there are still some persons who are not wearing masks or observing physical distancing with due diligence and it was also observed that people are moving from one locality to another despite restrictions, and vehicles without passes are plying, it said.
The Superintendent of Police & Incident Commmander, Zone-I will ensure compliance to the order, and meticulously plan regulated opening in consultation with the Market Committees and CCMT so that there is discipline following of protocols.
