Short film competition for World Consumer Rights Day
The Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Amlarem Civil Sub Division observed World Consumer Rights Day with the launch of a short film competition. Celebrating the day is a chance to demand that the rights of all consumers are respected and protected, and to protest against market abuses and social injustices which undermine those rights.
All residents and permanent address holders Amlarem Sub Division are allowed to participate in the competition. Participants to shoot a 2-4 minute original short film on any topic related to Consumer Awareness. A cash prize award will also be distributed to the winners, 1st prize to receive Rs 5000, 2nd prize to receive Rs 2000, 3rd prize to receive Rs 2000 and 5 consolation prizes of Rs. 1000. The results will be announced on the 28th of March.
World Consumer Rights Day was inspired by President John F Kennedy, he was the first world leader to address the rights of consumers. The consumer movement first marked that date in 1983 and now uses the day every year to mobilise action on important issues and campaigns.
