Show causing Ashok Sarma will recognize old-new clash in BJP: Jayanta Kumar Das writes to Bhabesh Kalita
Pained at the recent happening within the ranks and files of the Assam Pradesh BJP, senior leader and vice president Jayanta Kumar Das said the issuing show cause notice to former Nalbari MLA Ashok Sarma will recognize old-new clash within the party and send a bad message to the party workers at the grass root level.
Assam Pradesh BJP has issued a show cause notice to its former MLA Ashok Sarma for criticising the party leadership. According to the show cause notice, Sarma spoke before the media against the party leadership and also made the party’s internal matters public.
“If you give show cause only to one person, it will recognize old-new clash in the party and it will affect the party,” Das said in his letter to Kalita on Monday.
Das advised the party president to intervene in the matter and settle the case amicably bringing all people together concerning the issue
“Please intervene in the matter directly and settle the issue within the party platform by bringing all concerned people together. Otherwise, it will send a bad message to thousands of party workers,” Das said.
“I decided to write this letter to you in a most important matter. At the very outset, I thank you for allowing me to serve the party as state vice president during your tenure. I have been sincerely performing my duty and responsibility that have been given by you to me during your tenure till the day. I came out for party work leaving aside my family function like the annual Narayan Puja,” Das said in his letter.
“I have been deprived of party tickets for dispur LAC since 2001 despite having efficacy and support from the public. I have been working for almost 10 years to strengthen BHYM organizations in the state before seeking a ticket from Dispur in 2001. I was the one who strengthened the party base in Dispur when the BJP was zero in the state. Even as I have been bearing the pain in my heart for the denial of the party ticket, I have been continually working for the party under your leadership. I guess, for the sacrifice of many party workers, the governments in Delhi and Dispur prevail,” Das said in his letter.
“Respected president sir, our party colleague Ashok Sarma was issued notice to show cause in the last week. In this connection, I want to say something to you. It is known to all that some MLAs and leaders shared statements that are detrimental to the party constitution. During that time, I personally requested you to take steps against them so that everybody would abstain from damaging the party. Because the statement of an MLA-minister or state or district level officer bearers would have an adverse effect in the party and its workers,” he said.
“Say, Ashok Sarma has made a mistake. But is it acceptable when an MP spoke before the media mocking Ashok Sabha? Speaking against senior party leaders publicly without speaking on the party platform is not according to our party constitution. Moreover, to argue against Ashok Sarma, a minister mocked a person who had sacrificed for the party for several decades. I am deeply pained at his words,” he also said.
“We welcome that the minister has been working 24 hours a day for the party since 2015. But the situation after 2015 is congenial for the party. I remembered the sacrifice of my colleague who bore with Dilip Saha of Nalbari who was shot dead by militants before 2015,” he further said.
“In this context, I also remembered my colleagues who were dedicated to strengthening the party facing all crises and challenges even walking on foot for more than 10 km, taking out motorcycle rallies from Dhubri to Sadiya during winter season, reaching out to the people through rath yatra with empty pocket etc,” Das said.
“The situation reached to such a stage that a war of words between an MLA and a minister became a headline in mainstream media and social media. It is noticed that he did not hesitate to humiliate senior leaders through social media and mainstream media only for a private matter,” the BJP leader said.
The BJP leader said there is no new and old in the party. But we are the people who took membership books in our pockets and brought many young boys and girls male and female to the party.
“The party workers who have been dedicated to the party for many years are pained deeply only because of these incidents that took place recently,” he added.
