Shullai says it would be useless to send candidates of other pol parties as MPs
BJP legislator from South Shillong Sanbor Shullai on Thursday reiterated that it would be useless for the people of Khasi and Jaintia Hills to send candidates of other political parties as a member of parliament (MP) from Shillong seat since the BJP is going come back to power at the Centre.
According to him, it is high time the electorate of Khasi and Jaintia Hills region give BJP a chance for five years.
Shullai had alleged that the sitting Congress MP from Shillong Vincent H Pala was wasting time by eating nuts in the parliament since there is least development coming to the state.
Speaking to journalists, Shullai said, “It is useless to send people from other parties as MPs. The people of India knows and the people of Meghalaya knows that no doubt this time also the government will be formed by the BJP under leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In the last election, the BJP alone had secured over 333 seats.”
He said people will vote back the BJP because of its good performance in terms of development and schemes which are uplifting the living conditions of the poor people especially in the rural areas adding the Modi government has also created various schemes for the farmers, households ect.
“That is why I appeal to the electorate of Khasi and Jaintia that don’t waste their time, don’t send other candidates, otherwise five years we will regret again,” Shullai added.
Also urging the people to give BJP a chance this time, he said, “If you send a BJP MP from Shillong, he or she will get minister with all plum portfolios where various kinds of developmental schemes will be getting and we will get lots of schemes to generate employment to youth and job aspirants of people of Jaintia and Khasi.”
Further, Shullai said that the Congress is sinking day by day with all its big leaders leaving the party and joining the BJP.
“Few days back, the former chief minister of Maharashtra left the party with his group and joined the BJP and subsequently he was nominated as Rajya Sabha MP. Look at the other states, so many are joining the BJP. Working president of Assam state also joined the BJP. Many are joining the BJP because of the good work and development under PM Modi,” he said.
On the Congress’ allegation that BJP is misusing the enforcement directorate (ED), Shullai said, “In the election, the role of the opposition is always to criticize. Whatever good work that Modi is doing the Congress is criticizing. Regarding ED and all these things, it is duty bound of the central government to take action if there is a complaint regarding huge corruption. I feel this is a good move by imposing ED as it will reduce and detect any government or any individual, MLA, MP from corruption.”
