Shullai takes up SCA lease holders issue, Mawshbuit
BJP leader and cabinet minister Sanbor Shullai on Saturday sought the intervention of the Union Minister of State for Defence Ajay Bhatt for addressing the problems faced by the lease holders of Shillong cantonment area due to the rise in calculated STR of Cantonment Area.
Submitting a memorandum in this regard, Shullai requested the ministry to implement 0.25 of the STR which will help reduce the cost for the lessees.
The South Shillong legislator also discussed early implementation of building bye laws and also sought funds for water tank at Jhalupara, upgradation of Goenka Hospital and Shillong Cantonment School proposals of which have been sent by Shillong Cantonment Board.
He further urged the Minister of State to help provide NOC for various roads in Shillong town which will help ease traffic congestions in town.
On the other hand, Shullai also raised the difficulties faced by Mawshbuit residents whose only point of entry and exit lies within the defence area.
He said that the local MDC and chairman KHADC Pyniaid Sing Syiem had also taken up the matter with the Defence Ministry in the past and that the MDC had met him before his trip to Delhi regarding this pressing matter.
Shullai urged the Minister to relocate the gate and allot a free unhindered passage for civilian movement.
