Shullai urges people not to vote for business tycoons in 2023
BJP leader and cabinet minister Sanbor Shullai on Tuesday asked the people of the state not to vote for big business tycoons in the upcoming 2023 assembly elections in the state.
Shullai alleged that the business tycoons have often misused the word “jaidbynriew” adding all love the jaidbynriew (own community) before election but after the elections they don’t hesitate even to sell the jaidbynriew.
The cabinet minister was speaking at the oath taking ceremony of the newly elected body of the Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP) held at U Soso Tham Auditorium.
Urging the people to reject the business tycoons entering politics, Shullai said, “Don’t allow them to fool you.” He said business tycoons from Jaintia Hills can buy votes and win from a seat in Ri Bhoi. Similarly, some of them even own resorts and properties in foreign countries as well, he alleged.

Shullai said that without money, he was able to defeat his arch rival in the election from South Shillong.
He also assured that he is ready to take up issues of the state right up to the bedroom of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi if he needs to.
Shullai also donated Rs lakh from his salary for the construction of the FKJGP office building.
