Sit in demonstration on August 8 along NH-6 for failure to meet demands
After the end of seven days deadline to the Meghalaya Government and NHAI for immediate repair and restoration of the diplidated highway from Mynkre to Malidor, the umbrella of Dorbar Shnong of various villages along National Highway 6 in East Jaintia Hills District along with the KSU Narpuh Circle decided to launch a mass sit-in demonstration along the National Highway on August 8, next from 10 am to 4 pm.
The decision was taken in a joint meeting between the leaders of various Dorbar Shnong and KSU Narpuh Circle at Mynkre on Thursday.
The agitation will be a peacful with display of placards and banners condemning the failure of the NHAI and Meghalaya to meet their legitimate demands.
The meeting resolved to appeal to tourist vehicles viz inter/intra districts and interstate to abstain from plying to the areas on the day of agitation.
They also called upon the dumper trucks transporting limestones and Tourist Sumo from Lad Rymbai to Kalain Badarpur, Assam to stop plying on August 8, next.
The meeting decided to exempt Ambulances and vehicles transporting sick people, vehicles on media duty and vehicles on emergency duty.
