Sivasagar tops in Gunotsav evaluation, Karbi Anglong shows worst performance
Sivasagar continued to bag the first position in Gunotsav 2024 followed by Dibrugarh and Jorhat as Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the results of Gunotsav 2024 in a function held at Sankardeva Kalakshetra here on Thursday.
Sivasagar topped the list for the third consecutive year with 0.3562 ranking.
The performance of Karbi Anglong, West Karbi Anglong and Kokrajhar districts which have been poor since the day of the first Gunotsav in 2017, showed poor performance this time also.
Sivasagar has 432 A plus and 243 A grade schools. Dibrugarh stood at second position with 0.3493 rankins and Jorhat at third position with 0.3412 ranking.
In Gunotsav 2023, Charaideo and Golaghat districts secured second and third-ranking districts, but they did not come to the contest this time.
Karbi Anglong continued to show poor performance with 0.2334 ranking in the Gunotsav 2024. Two other districts, which showed poor performance are West Karbi Anglong with 0.2406 and Kokrajhar with 0.2461 rankings.
A total of 38,97,323 students from classes I to IX of 32,421 schools (government, provincialised schools, Adarsha Vidyalayas, tea garden model schools, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Avasiya Vidyalayas and Tea Garden Management Schools) evaluated in the exercise across 35 districts of the state from January 3 to February 8.
The four core areas viz. scholastic (learning outcomes of children), co-scholastic, infrastructure and community participation are evaluated in the Gunotsav exercise.
A total of 18,098 external evaluators including ministers, MLAs, chief secretary, senior IAS, IPS and IFS officers, ACS & APS officers, and other class I & II officers of the state were engaged in the exercise.
Altogether 11,592 (35.75%) schools secured A plus (86.50%) grade, 14,933 schools (46.75%) schools got A grade (73.49%), 4603 schools (14.20%) secured B grade (60.50%), 1032 schools (3.18%) got C grade (48.50 to 60.49%) and 261 schools (0.81%) secured D grade (0-48.49%) in the exercise.
Similarly, 16,12,184 students (41.37%) secured A plus graded getting 86.50%, 11,52,671 (29.58%) secured A graded (73.50%-86.49%), 5,95,865 students (15.29%) secured B grade (60.50-73.49%), 2,57,313 students (6.60%) secured C grade (48.50% to 60.49%), 2,79,290 students (7.17%) secured D grade (0-48.49%).
This year, the percentage of A+ schools increased to 35.75 % from 29.02% in Gunotsav 2023.
The percentage of A+ students increased from 38.16% in Gunotsav 2023 to 41.37% in Gunotsav 2024.
The percentage of total A+ and A grade schools increased from 75.00% in Gunotsav 2023 to 81.81% in Gunotsav 2024.
The percentage of B grade schools decreased from 18.49% in Gunotsav 2023 to 14.20% in Gunotsav 2024.
The percentage of C grade schools decreased from 4.69% in Gunotsav 2023 to 3.18% in Gunotsav 2024.
The percentage of D grade schools decreased from 1.82% in Gunotsav 2023 to 0.81% in Gunotsav 2024.
A total of 5,758 schools obtained A+ grades in both Gunotsav 2023 and 2024.
5,813 A, B, C &D grades schools of Gunotsav 2023 have been upgraded to A+ grade in Gunotsav2024.
A total of 441 grade D schools of Gunotsav 2023 have been upgraded to grade A+, A, B & C in Gunotsav 2024.
The increase in attendance of students from 96.69% in Gunotsav 2023 to 98.33% in Gunotsav 2024.
Notably, Gunotsav-2023, which was conducted in three phases in all districts, evaluated a total of 41,35,163 students of 44,531 schools.
12,047 schools secured ‘A+’ grade, 19085 schools secured ‘A’ grade, 7673 schools secured ‘B’ grade, 1948 schools secured ‘C’ grade and 754 schools secured ‘D’ grade across the state.
Amongst the top-performing districts, Sivasagar ranked first with 810 A+ schools, Charaideo ranked second with 377 A+ schools and Golaghat ranked third with 691 A+ schools.
In the same function, the chief minister also distributed scholarship to : 34,267 girl students belonging to minority communities studying in classes X, XI & XII of all government, provincialised, private and recognized/permitted secondary schools of the state.
An amount of Rs 10,79,72,625 will be utilized for providing scholarships to minority girl students.
The chief minister further distributed Rs 11803.93 lakh to 3,11,300 under the Pragyan Bharati Schemes for 2023-24 fiscal.
