The UPF is comprising of two political parties – People’s Democratic Front (PDF), Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and one Independent.

Lone NCP legislator, Saleng A Sangma from Gambegre constituency and Independent MLA Lambor Malngiang from Nongkrem constituency are also part of the newly formed sub-alliance (UPF).
Last year, Saleng and Lambor had formed the Meghalaya United Forum (MUF), but no other legislators joined them.

He however said that the MLAs are yet to decide on who will be the chairman of the sub-alliance.
Asked, Urban Affairs Minister Hamletson Dohling denied that the formation of the UPF would be a threat to the MDA government led by chief minister Conrad K Sangma.
“The formation of the UPF will give more strength to the MDA government and ensure that it last till the end of the five-year term. We have full faith in the leadership of the chief minister, Conrad K Sangma,” Dohling said.
