Skill training on Agri-Sericulture activities held in Resubelpara
Skill training cum workshop on Agri Entrepreneurship development through sericulture activities was held on Tuesday at the District Sericulture Office, Jonglapara in Resubelpara. The training aimed at upgrading the skills of the sericulturists through utilisation of the potentialities of sericulture.
Speaking during the inaugural function, Z J Sangma, Additional Deputy Commissioner, North Garo Hills said sericulture being the agro based industry has the potential of providing employment and income to entrepreneurs. The skill training programmes provides systematic improvement in skills and knowledge which in turn would enable entrepreneurs to gain profitable income, he added. He therefore urged the entrepreneurs to take note of the given opportunity being supported by the government and venture towards uplifting thier socioeconomic status.
The entrepreneurs were also informed of the activities being undertaken by the Incubation Centre which was set up in Tura NEHU Campus. Dr Sashi Kumar, Nodal officer, Incubation Centre, Tura said the centre is committed in promoting the entrepreneurs by providing them guidance, mentoring, network funding and others. He further pressed them to communicate their needs which in turn the centre will help them to function effectively and efficiently in their farming activities.
During the programme, Sanre G Momin, DSO spoke on the objective of the programme and informed that each entrepreneur after paying the membership fees will receive sericulture farming equipments such as trays, torch light, tarpaulin and pruning tools, etc., which will aid them in enhancing their productivity.
Others who spoke during the training were Dr Indira Kumar, Scientist B, CSB, Tura, Pro Vice Chancellor, NEHU, Tura and Dr Sarkar Scientist D, MSSO, Guwahati.
