Skills for the Future: KSU suggests diverse courses for proposed ITI in East Jaintia Hills
The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) East Jaintia Hills District Unit has identified several courses for the proposed Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in the district.
In response to the request for input on the courses to be offered in the ITI from the Deputy Commissioner of East Jaintia Hills, the KSU submitted a proposal for a broad range of courses on Wednesday.
The KSU stated that they have carefully selected a range of courses that they believe will be beneficial for the local youth. These courses have been chosen to provide the necessary skills for the youth to pursue their desired careers and ensure their future livelihoods.
The suggested courses for the ITI Institute in East Jaintia Hills include:
- Stenography
- Plumbing
- Welding
- Fitting
- Fruits & Vegetables Processing
- Wiring
- Electrical Work
- Motor Vehicle Mechanics
- Civil Draughtsmanship
- Information & Communication Technology (ICT)
- System Maintenance
- Carpentry
- Advanced Machine Tools
- Electronics Mechanics
- Digital Photography, Multimedia Animation & Special Effects
- Driving and Mechanics (Light Motor Vehicles)
- Solar Technician (Electrical)
- Baking & Confectionery
- Masonry
The KSU has also urged the Deputy Commissioner to take the necessary steps to establish the ITI. They expect a positive response, believing that by equipping unemployed youth with the right skills, it will address unemployment and foster economic growth in East Jaintia Hills.
