Sniawbhalang asks Pala to introspect and put his House in order
NPP national general secretary and deputy chief minister Sniawbhalang Dhar on Friday slammed the Congress chief Vincent H Pala for alleging that he is the spokesperson of the BJP-RSS and asked him to introspect and find out the reason behind the exodus of MLAs under his leadership.
Hitting back at Pala, Dhar said everybody knows that the allegation made against me by him is totally wrong.
“I am the NPP general secretary so how am I linked to the BJP? Yes, we are working with the BJP for the past seven years for development. Meghalaya being a small state, we need the support of the Central government for the development. That is the meaning of the MDA government. It doesn’t mean just because we are working together with the BJP, we are spokesperson of the BJP or RSS. That is a totally false and baseless allegation,” he told reporters.
“I used to respect Pala as a former MP and also as MPCC president. We did not expect a leader of his stature to make such an immature statement,” Dhar said while adding “He knows that my family comes from business to politics and not from politics to business. Everybody knows that we are a construction company and a business house, so the corruption charges made that there are illegal drug activities, are totally wrong.”
Urging Pala to self-introspect, the NPP leader, “The moment he took over as MPCC president, immediately 12 MLAs merged with the TMC. Can you blame Sniawbhalang for that? Then came the 2023 general election, Ampareen, Kimfa and Rapsang joined the NPP. Do you mean to say that I call them to join the NPP? Whereas PT Sawkmie and Mayralborn Syiem, they went and joined the UDP.
This shows that it seems that he (Pala) cannot handle his own house. And recently, three Congress MLAs have also merged with the NPP. Therefore, he should introspect and find out what is wrong in his own house. To blame the NPP for the Congress MLAs joining other parties is not fair. We welcome anyone who wants to join us.”
Dhar also dared Pala to prove his allegation that the Dhar’s company is engaging in illegal activities.
“To say that my company is under CBI scanner, we know that there is nothing like that. Sadly, as a former MP to say that the company is engaging in drug trafficking, I feel as leaders we should take a collective responsibility to fight the drug menace and eradicate it from the state. I feel making baseless allegations is not acceptable at all,” he said.
