Social activist demands appointment of additional teacher at Waramgre LP school
Social Activist Cherian Momin on Thursday urged the state government to immediately appoint an additional teacher at Waramgre lower primary school under SSA.
In a letter to the education minister Rakkam A Sangma, Momin said currently, the school is functioning with only one teacher, who is tasked with managing all aspects of the school’s educational delivery.
This arrangement arose following the unfortunate passing away of one of the two teachers in 2019, which has left the remaining educator to carry the full burden of instruction, administration, and student welfare without adequate support.
This is not only a challenging scenario for the sole teacher but also raises concerns about compliance with the Right to Education (RTE) norms that mandate adequate staffing for effective educational practices.
“The solitary teacher at Waramgre LP School has demonstrated commendable dedication and commitment to the students and the school community. However, it is evident that one individual cannot effectively cater to the diverse educational needs of multiple grades and subject areasm” he said while adding “The impact of this staffing deficiency is significant, potentially hindering the students’ academic progress and overall development. It poses a threat to the foundational principles of the RTE, which emphasize the right to a quality education delivered in a conducive learning environment.”
“In light of these challenges, I respectfully request your intervention to facilitate the appointment of an additional teacher for Waramgre LP School. The appointment of an additional teacher would greatly enhance the learning environment, enabling a more focused and effective teaching approach. It would also help alleviate the undue pressure on the current educator, thereby ensuring that the students receive the attention and instruction necessary for their academic success,” Momin stated in the letter.
