Social activist requests DC, SGH to address issue of pending income certificate
Social Activist Greneth M Sangma has sought the intervention of the deputy commissioner of South Garo Hills into the issue relating to pending income certificates affecting students in the district.
In a letter to the DC, Sangma said that despite multiple attempts by students and parents, these certificates remain pending due to the pending signature of the Income Certificates Officer, exacerbated by bad road conditions and financial crisis faced by those from rural areas.
He said students require these certificates to apply for scholarships and admission to colleges and universities outside the state. The current process demands numerous documents, including land pattas, current Bills, PAN cards, and IDs, causing significant delays.
“To alleviate this burden, I suggest simplifying the process by accepting the parents’ ID cards, students’ school certificates, and income proof documents and minimizing required documents to alleviate the burden on students. Considering the difficulties faced by rural residents, I urge you to address this issue promptly and clear all certificates within a week before the scholarship application deadline of November 30, 2024,” Sangma stated in the letter.
