Special operation in South West Garo Hills leads to major drug bust
In a coordinated effort to combat the rising issue of drug trafficking, a special operation was conducted on 13th July 2024 by the Anti-Narcotics Task Force, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (HQ), South West Garo Hills, along with officers and personnel from Monabari Outpost (OP) and Garobadha Outpost Guard Camp (OGC) in the Borkona area under Monabari OP (Ampati Police Station) jurisdiction.
During this operation, three individuals were apprehended. These included Mostafa Sheik, 24 years old, son of Mohumuddin Sk of Gazarikandi, PO Radhamandabhat, PS Mankachar, Assam; Meter Ali, 32 years old, son of Nurul Zamal Sk of Tangaon PO Dhanoa, Assam; and Nur Abdin, 24 years old, son of Amzad Ali of Kukurmara Part-II, Radhamandabhat, PS Mankachar, Assam.
The following items were recovered and duly seized from their possession: – 11,000 Methamphetamine tablets (Yaba) weighing 1.06 kilograms, 3 mobile phones, 2 motorcycles, and 1 knife
A case has been registered at Ampati Police Station under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and an investigation is currently underway.
The South West Garo Hills Police request the public’s cooperation in this ongoing investigation. The police urge anyone with information about other individuals involved in this illegal activity to come forward and inform their local police station. The identities of informants will be kept confidential, and suitable rewards will be given for valuable information leading to further arrests.
