Specialson Turnia sets an inspiring example: Donates blood 25 times at Jowai Blood Bank Centre
On the occasion of World Blood Donor Day, the Jowai Blood Bank Centre held a special felicitation ceremony in the conference room, honouring both individual and organizational blood donors.
During the event, Specialson Turnia was recognized for his exceptional dedication, having donated blood an astounding 25 times. Socially Kamar and Wanmi Laloo were also acknowledged for their noteworthy contributions, with each having donated blood 10 times.
The District Level World Blood Donors event, organized by the Jowai Civil Hospital Blood Centre, carried the theme of “Give Blood, Give Plasma, Share Life, Share Often.”
A pledge was taken by Assistant Commissioner Wankhraw Kupar Kharbuli, MCS, in the presence of Dr. Rita Pohrmen, the Medical Superintendent of District Civil Hospital, Ialong, Dr. P. Shylla, the Incharge of Jowai Civil Hospital Blood Centre, as well as the dedicated staff of the Blood Bank and Blood Donors.
Assistant Commissioner Wankhraw Kupar said the day is observed every year to create awareness about the importance of blood donation and to appreciate those who donate blood to save lives. He added it is also a day that reminds each one of us of the selfless act of donating blood without any expectation. He encouraged healthy individuals to come forward and donate blood, by donating blood you add joy and double the happiness of the recipients and their loved ones, added Kharbuli.
He also expresses his appreciation to all blood donors and to individual donors who have donated 25 times and 10 times for their consistent commitment in helping those in need and supporting healthcare services.
A blood donation camp was also held on this day, organised by the Meghalaya Cricket Association & West Jaintia Hills District Cricket Association in collaboration with Blood Bank, Civil Hospital, Jowai. Five members stepped forward to donate blood on this occasion.
