SSMP demands Govt to speed up relocation of CRPF camp from Mawlai
The Seng Samla Mawlai Pyllun (SSMP) on Wednesday sought the intervention of the Arts & Culture Minister Sanbor Shullai for speeding up the shifting of the CRPF camp from Mawlai and to instead set up a de-addiction-cum-recreational centre.
Speaking to media persons after meeting, President of SSMP Samuel Biam said although the people of Mawlai appreciate the state government’s utmost dedication and sincerity to relocate the CRPF Camp from Mawlai but demands to accelerate the process of shifting the CRPF Camp from Mawlai, as the locality is in need to have a proper de-addiction cum recreational centre to treat the addicts and help them reintegrate with the society.
“Since the current site of the CRPF at Mawlai belongs to the Arts & Culture department government of Meghalaya, we have come to meet the minister in-charge to work along with the department of Social Welfare to set up a de-addiction cum recreational centre to treat the addicts and help them reintegrate with the society” Biam said.
Biam said that at the presence the state has witness the rise of drug addiction especially among the youths and this is not exception in Mawlai and its locality hence there is a need for the state government to come up with government run de-addiction cum recreational centre to treat the addicts free of cost especially for those youths coming from low income family.
